OVERVIEW:
Dhampur a
small city and municipal board in Bijnor district in
the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is located on the way of haridwar to moradabad at 29.30°N
78.50°E, and lies in Northern India. It is best known as the sugar processing area where the
sugar factories operate processing raw sugarcane into refined sugar.
One of the largest sugar industry THE DHAMPUR SUGAR MILLS LTD. originated from
here. Beside this Dhampur is also known for RSM DEGREE COLLEGE which is amongst
oldest Agriculture institutes in india.
HISTORY :
In 1805, Dhampur was sacked by Pindaris. The well known Indian sugar company Dhampur Sugar
Mills first started operations with the established of a sugar mill having a
crushing capacity of 300 tonnes of cane per day in 1933.
DEMOGRAPHIC:
As of 2001 India census,[3] Dhampur
had a population of 46,855. Males constitute 53% of the population and females
47%. Dhampur has an average literacy rate of 65%: male literacy is 68% and
female literacy is 60%. In Dhampur, 15% of the population is under 6 years of
age.As of the 2011 Census of
India Dhampur
Husainpur is a Census Town city in district of Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh.The town
has population of 6,752 of which 3,567 are males while 3,185 are females.
Population of Children with age of 0-6 is 1001 which is 14.83 % of total
population. The Female Sex Ratio is of 893 against state average of 912.
Moreover Child Sex Ratio is around 918 compared to Uttar Pradesh state average
of 902. Literacy rate is 71.55%, higher than state average of 67.68%. Male
literacy is around 76.75 % while female literacy rate is 65.71%. The town
has total administration over 1,166 houses.
INDUSTRIES:
Most of Dhampur's
economy is based on agriculture, mainly sugarcane, wheat, and rice. Hand-woven
textile items produced by the weavers living in surrounding areas are known for
their utility and designs. The State Government set up a Handloom Intensive
Development Project at Dhampur and several production centres are located in
the area, with its central office headquartered at Kanpur. One of the largest
sugar producers in India, Dhampur Sugar Mills, is located here. Set up in 1933,
Dhampur Sugar Mills is a publicly listed sugar manufacturer, which produces the
Dhampure brand of sugar products.

AND LIVING STANDARD:
Dhampur is a semi
urban locality so it is influenced by both rural and urban societies. Its
market place is well organised and developed, which serves a large area
including villages and towns. For secondary education dhampur is a good place, having many
institutions like – Pushp
Niketan School, St. Mary's Convent School, R.S.M. Inter College, K.M. Inter
College, Kanya Inter College, Priyanka Modern public School, Saraswati Vidya
Mandir, R.N public school and Shikhar Shishu Sadan etc. It also have one
technical institution – Disha institute of science and technology. And for
graduate, post graduate courses , dhampur has many degree college like RSM
Degree college, Dhampur degree college, SBD girls degree college, Dhampur
college of law, Lakshya college etc.

PLACES :
Dhampur is surrounded
by many neighbouring villages and localities like – Jaitra, Naurangabad,
Suhagpur, Purana dhampur, Mohammadpur sada etc. and consist of many colonies
like Punjabi colony, durga vihar, state bank colony, teachers colony, sundar
nagar, kshatriya nagar, etc.
Transport

Transport facility
from dhampur is preferably good. Train and road transport available here.
Dhampur is situated on railway line which connects north region ( Punjab,
J&K) to east region, so direct trains to these locations are available from
here. And road transport is also quite good and safe at here. Because of
national higway 74 which connects north region to east and uttrakhand public
transport to nearby and some long destinations is easily available from here.
FOOD AND
TASTE :
Dhampur is famous for
its traditional chaat like moong daal and singhada (waternut) kachri which is
available here in every season, beside this indian chaat like aaloo tikki, dahi
bada, and paani poori is also famous and good in quality. Famous and old place
to taste these food is Bhagat singh chowk in main market of Dhampur.
